Meet Nehemie: Therapist, Educator, and Self-Proclaimed “God-Girl”
“Calm is a gift I carry into every room, and my work is to help you remember that you already hold what you came looking for.”
Hello, I am Nehemie (pronounced “nay-me,” like the words “name me”), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, an educator, a coach, and the founder of Restoratively Speaking. I grew up in Norwalk, and the faith, family, and community that raised me there still shape every room I walk into. For twenty years I have worked alongside nonprofits and nonprofit leaders, and those years taught me that the bravest thing a person can do is ask for help. I count it an honor each time someone chooses to ask me.
The calm I bring into a space comes with two decades of experience behind it. I offer one to one therapeutic services, and I coach leaders, educators, and helping professionals who have been the strong one for everyone else and are ready to receive support themselves. My approach is heart centered and clinically grounded, and in every space I hold, your story, your culture, your faith, and your full self are honored.
Education and Experience
I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Vermont and my Master of Social Work from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work. Two decades of work with nonprofits and nonprofit leaders have made me a dynamic practitioner, equally at home in a therapy session, a training room, or a leadership retreat.
“God-Girl”
I call myself a God-Girl, and I say it with joy, because my faith is the steady ground under everything I do. It shapes how I listen, how I hold what people entrust to me, and how I believe in restoration even in the hardest seasons. Faith keeps me humble, hopeful, and patient with the pace of someone else’s healing, and every client is welcome to bring their own faith into the room.
Therapy, Education, and Coaching
Therapy, education, and coaching are three expressions of one calling. In individual therapy I walk with clients through the seasons that ask the most of them. As an educator I train and develop the people who care for others, so that care across our communities grows stronger. As a coach I partner with leaders to turn insight into action, and coaching fills a generous portion of my work.
Laughter, Listening, and a Memory for Names
I laugh easily, I listen closely, and facilitation is among my strongest gifts. I carry an excellent memory, especially for names, and I treat remembering a name as one of the quickest ways to tell a person they matter. Everyone who sits with me is known and welcomed by name.
Wife, Bonus Mom, Daughter, and Chucks Devotee
Family is where I am formed and restored. I am a wife to Dr. Jay, a daughter, and a bonus mom to two beautiful children, Malcolm and Leila, and those roles shape who I am as much as any credential I hold. Away from the office you will find me in my Chucks, the Converse sneakers I have made my signature. A good pair of Chucks carries polish and comfort together, and that ease is part of how I welcome people: come as you are, and stay as long as you need.
